State of Louisiana Code of Ethics Training
Every year, public employees are required to complete the state ethics training program. Training is provided using the state’s ethics website, https://eap.ethics.la.gov/EthicsTraining/login.aspx. NOAB employees are required to complete the 2019 state ethics training by March 30, 2019. Once you have completed the training, submit a printout of the certificate of completion to Human Resources.
City of New Orleans Defensive Driver Training
This training is required of all NOAB employees who may have occasion to drive a take-home vehicle, operate an airport vehicle, including pool vehicles, or request mileage reimbursement for use of his or her personal vehicle on Airport business.

Once you have completed the online training, submit a printout of the certificate of completion to Human Resources by March 30, 2019.
NOAB & City of New Orleans Wellness Compliance
Completing the following activities prior to October 31, 2019, is mandatory for all adult employees, retirees, spouses, and domestic partners to qualify for the 2019 Wellness Credit of $15 per adult per pay period for our healthcare plan. The links and forms are available at https://nola.gov/health-plan/wellness-program.
Do not wait until September or October of 2019 to begin the following activities:
Wellness Visits - Mandatory for plan members spouses and domestic partners. The exam includes Total Cholesterol, Glucose, and Blood Sugar tests. Remember to tell your doctor’s office that you are scheduling a wellness visit when you schedule your appointment. This will ensure that your doctor codes the charge correctly and that you receive credit for your Wellness Compliance Requirements. There is no cost for an annual wellness visit for plan members. If you do not have a doctor, visit the United Health Care website to select an in-network doctor near you. All wellness visits must be completed by the end of October in order to satisfy the next years Healthcare Wellness requirements.
Dental Cleaning - Mandatory for plan members, spouses, and domestic partners. The annual exam includes cleaning and a checkup. Schedule your dental cleaning before October 31st. If you need a dentist please visit the United Health Care website to locate an in-network dentist near you. All dental visits completed by October 31st of one year through October 31st of the following year will satisfy the coming year Healthcare Wellness Requirements. Don’t forget that members receive two (2) free cleaning visits per year!
UHC Rally Health Assessment - An online health survey required for all health beneficiaries to complete in order to successfully complete enrollment. Get a head start and complete this assessment by visiting www.myuch.com before October 31st.
Tobacco & Nicotine Affidavit - Complete the Tobacco Affidavit online at http://nola.gov/health-plan/wellness-program/tobacco-nicotine-affidavit/ and as with all of these steps, be sure to PDF or print and save a copy for your records. If you are not smoke-free, you may still receive the Wellness credit by joining a Smoking Cessation Program through one of the following:
· Smoking Cessation Trust Program is for Louisiana residents who started smoking tobacco products before September 1, 1988. The program offers FREE medication, group counseling and quitline coaching to help you quit for good. To learn more visit: www.smokingcessationtrust.org

NOAB Computer Training Program
What you need to know:
All NOAB employees are required to take one computer course during the 2018 calendar year. You should discuss the appropriate course options with your manager. Managers please refer to the Managers Help Guide.
Additionally, with manager approval, you are welcome to sign up for other course offerings that can enhance your skills and overall work performance.
Click the link to find a course catalog as well as a class schedule for September through December 2018. To register for classes, fill out the registration form and submit to HR via email or by delivery.
Note: More classes will be added throughout the year.
Introduction to Computers is a new class for employees who do not use computers much or at all. We will teach you everything you need to know about beginning to use a computer, including creating your own personal email and basics on using the internet.
You should begin classes at the lowest level possible since you will learn new skills and time-saving tricks even in basic courses. Many administrative series employees have already taken some of these courses at City Hall. No employee may repeat a course under this training program that has been completed under City Hall’s program. If you have not had formal training but use a program often, please apply to test-out of each prior level by contacting hr@flymsy.com
Civil Service Training
Civil Service Training Program
Each year, the Civil Service department publishes a course catalog of their in-service training program. The classes are held at City hall/Civil Service Buildings, and are taught by City employees.Some employees will need to take these courses to qualify for promotions in clerical, administrative, professional or field classifications.
However, all employees are encouraged to take in-service training through the City’s Civil Service Commission to further their professional and personal development.

Want to Become an Instructor?
HOW DO I APPLY?
To apply to be a City Training Instructor, you will need to do the following:
Submit a letter of interest – indicate why you wish to become an instructor and outline your qualifications. Your letter should include: why you want to be an instructor, relevant past or present training experience and why you will be an asset to the training program
Submit a current resume – your resume should encompass all of you work experience, not just your work experience with the City. It should include the following: Past and present work experience, past and present training experience, highlight experience for software application training, using and/or teaching Microsoft Office programs, teaching specific curriculum's and references
Complete the corresponding application – to apply to become a Business Application Software Training Instructor, send an email to training@nola.gov. To apply to become a Civil Service Employee Growth & Development Trainer email Wayne D. Carriere at wdcarriere@nola.gov. Your appointing authority must sign and approve your application before you submit
Schedule a teaching demonstration - If selected for Business Software Training, the CAO will contact you to schedule a teaching demonstration. You must present a sample lesson plan, an activity based on the learning objectives listed on the software instructor application and provide all material for the demonstration. If selected to for the Civil Service Employee Growth & Development, the Civil Service Commission will contact you directly to schedule a teaching demonstration if one is needed
Requirements
All instructors are required to have a strong background in the software application or course that you are applying to teach. For Software trainers, this includes use of all applications in the software suite and experience training employees. For Civil Service trainers, this includes a strong background using required systems and software, and knowledge of policies, processes and procedures, etc.
Instructors are required to teach a minimum of 84 hours per calendar year. We will work with you to adjust this requirement based on your start date.
Special Pay
City Training Instructors are eligible for a 5% special rate of pay increase. Your appointing authority will need to approve this increase. It is only available during the time that you are a training instructor. If you decide to resign from training, the 5% special pay increase will no longer be effective.
